Tofu Flower Studio was operated for education, friends and charity for years. This beginner tier is the extension of it. This tier offer opportunity for human to get their first urushi pen at an affordable price. This include most plain and kawari -nuri (effect painting technique), textured finish and some techniques that are not listed. 50% of the profit will be donate to a charity.

How to order

  • Plain

    Plain high gloss black is the signature finish of urushi. The colour is not limited to black. All colour on the rainbow is available

  • Tsugaru Nuri

    The three traditional styles of Tsugaru Nuri are a) Kara-nuri, b) Nanako-nuri, Monsha-nuri is available. The fourth technique -Nishiki-nuri is the combination of the above three technique is available at tier 3.

  • Tamenuri

    Translucent black, brown of coloured urushi painted over colour usuhi like a glaze giving the pen a “lake” like look.

    (Traditionally brown or black on red. Other combination available)

  • Texture finish

    Include ishime (course) makiji (five) and other kawari-nuri finish
